Ariadne And The Minotaur

she was held in my object
and I felt her reasons
like a bruise on my tongue
where the words got stuck
and the city outside
was a dirty mirror
reflecting our silences
the way a stranger's gaze
can undress you on the street.
and I thought I knew her
but her reasons were a maze.
I got lost in the twists
of her uncertainty and sighs
where the commas were knives
cutting through my sentences,
and the periods were doors
slamming shut on my doubts.
but still I held her close
like a lit cigarette
burning my fingers
as I searched for a way
out of her riddled
heart, where the Minotaur
of her past roamed free
and I was just a thread
unraveling in her hand,
a fragile Ariadne
leading me deeper in
where the shadows were her
reasons and I was lost
in the dark of her eyes
where the stars were her
secrets and I was blind
to the beauty of her
chaos and the mess
of her magnificent
heart beating like a drum
in my emotions.
