Silently Drowning

As I sit in a room
Afraid and alone,
I start to feel pain
That I don’t condone.
I walk toward the wall
To see a way out,
But I find nothing,
So, I scream and shout.

“Who would do this?
Why is it me?
Why do I suffer,
While others are free?”
I sit here afraid
As the room starts to fill
With anxiety and depression,
These things all too real.

I reach my hand out
Above toward the sky.
But no one is there,
Leaving me to wonder why
I must suffer alone,
My face is left frowning.
As I come to find out,
That I am silently drowning.

About this poem

I feel that we all feel this way from time to time. Wishing for someone to find us in our darkness and help us toward the light. The moments are most bleak before the daylight is shown to us.
