Hvor Stormen løfter høit sin stærke Stemme,
Hvor Bølgen svulmer paa det stolte Hav,
Jeg tænker kun paa Dig. — Dig Gud mig gav!
— Jeg kan Dig aldrig glemme!
 
Paa Sletten, hvor den vilde Hingst har hjemme,
Paa Fjeldets Tind, høit i den kolde Sky,
Jeg seer kun Dig, — selv i hver fremmed By -
— Jeg kan Dig aldrig glemme!
 
Og bort, ja bort — det snevert er her hjemme -
Did hen, hvor Granerne paa Bjerget groe!
Langt bort, langt bort! — Faaer Hjertet da vel Ro?
— Jeg kan Dig aldrig glemme!
