Hører Du Havets susende Tone,
Klang i Naturens store Accord?
Hver en Conchylie har Lyd af den samme,
Aldrig derinde i den døer den bort.
Sneglehuus nede fra Havdybets Verden,
Hvor i Koralskoven Vragene staae,
Der hvor saa Mange sank ned uden Kiste,
Bølgernes Skum er det Liglag'n, de faae;
Dybets Conchylie, dit Herskab er borte,
Du er et Lighuus med Spøgelse i;
I Dig det suser og synger, hvad Havet
Rummer, mens Tider foer det forbi.
Dig til mit lyttende Øre jeg lægger,
Suus og fortæl, hvad et Verdenshav dækker!
