Gud, Almægtige! hvad er det?

Hans Christian Andersen 1805 (Odense) – 1875 (Copenhagen)

Gud, Almægtige! hvad er det?
Gravcapellet staaer i Flamme.
Og jeg blive maa som Liigvagt
Her tilbage hos den Døde.
Jeg vil krybe hen ad Jorden,
Bringe Budskab til hans Fader.
Sanct Georg, Sanct' agnus dei,
Hjelp mig naadigt ud paa Gaden!"
