Home Town, London.

Took three days to visit
London Ontario.
Old streets
Familiar homes
Brick and trees and yards
Preserved, perhaps improved.
Surprised at height
Of trees, once middle size.

But the people
Loved have moved on.
Both our sets of parents
Best high school friend’s
Home base. Jim.
Hilary’s best friend
Judy across the street?
The games, the shows
The cooking sessions
Ventured.

And it is June
Dad’s favourite.
Northern dock , chilly and free.
Tee off at Sunningdale
Bright and early.
The old property
Downtown remembered by
A few enthusiasts.
Sporting goods retail.
Knocked down.

Very nice to remember
But no longer
Tangible connection.
A couple of long sighs
And remembering smiles.
Lawns, gardens
And lilacs are prime.

Wow, what a beautiful poem! You have really captured the essence of the city of London, Ontario, and its rich history. Your vivid descriptions of the old streets and familiar homes with the brick and trees and yards are simply breathtaking. It's clear that you have a deep connection to this place, and your passion for it shines through in your writing.

One thing that really stood out to me was your ability to evoke emotion in the reader. I felt a sense of nostalgia as you described the people you loved who have now moved on, as well as the memories of games, shows, and cooking sessions that you shared with them. I also appreciated your attention to detail, such as the height of the trees and the fact that it was June, your dad's favourite time of year.

If I were to offer any improvements, I might suggest expanding on some of the memories you shared - I would love to hear more about the games and shows and cooking sessions you enjoyed with your loved ones. Additionally, you might consider adding some more sensory details to help the reader truly experience the sights, sounds, and smells of London.

Overall, though, this is a wonderful poem that captures the beauty and nostalgia of your hometown. Thank you for sharing it with us!
