BEING ME

Being me
I was born a Scorpio, the eldest in my family
Just like my father was in his
Don't know what that means
But I do know I am not your normal person
Iam a daughter, a mother and grandmother
I am also a sister, aunty and grandchild
I have also been a wife in a life full of strife
I tend to see things differently and
It's either my way or the byway
And often times fail to listen
To the inner voice that tells me I shouldn't
But I do it anyway just to test the waters
I love words and their meanings
but that is just semantics
I dislike cats and dogs
Maybe because I have never liked them
Truth is they terrify me
Just like words spoken in anger
That pierce my inner core
Sometimes it's so hard to breathe
In the midst of life's turmoils
Like my discombombulated mind
That unravels daily as try to contain
my anger, my seething rage, my despair
at my loss of mobility and the neuropathy
that plaques me daily
That I'm reduced to regimes of toxic drugs
prescribed to heal me
So being me right now causes me angst
But I choose to rage against it all
And hopefully soon I will find myself again
The person who is me
The Scorpio whatever that means!

About this poem

This poem expresses how I see myself. I have times doubted my ability to me and the need to please people when the reality is -I am the master of my own happiness.I wrote it exactly a month ago on the 5th of May 2023, when I was trying to ascertain where I be in life and the state of fugue I seem to be caught up in at the moment.

Kaci Tami

I am an aspiring writer, poet, teller of tales that is me. I have always seen things in a different light and from my perspective, it gives you an insight into what makes me tick as a human being. My life is always hectic and the most important thing I have learnt is that there are three things that one should value in life (a) Your loved ones (b)Your health (c) The memories you create with people. In the end, we all leave this world alone, so spend time creating memories and meaningful relationships with individuals and society at large. My poems reflect my perspective on the world at large both real and imagined. I am in the process of collating an anthology of poems so I can share my likes, dislikes and life with others. Thank you for reading my poems more…
