Last Night

HECATE 1920 (New York)

Last night I felt the pure power of mercy
as The Goddess released you from your earthly pain.
Last night I held you close in my arms,
while my swollen eyes brimmed over with
teary relief and I stayed a silent witness of your journey to portals far beyond all realms of human suffering.

Last night you began the walk to that place of sweet relief.

Last night I breathed your final breath with you, all the while gently walking my fingertips along your fragile spine, releasing all the earth-bound coils of pain that somehow still remained.
Last night I watched silently, gratefully, but yet bereft with sorrow while the soft, splendid light of eternity
washed over you.

Last night I watched over you, as tonight and surely for every tomorrow, you will faithfully watch over me.

Last night, you slipped from me, yet forever after, I shall feel your presence, since from my soul, you have never departed.
