Dad
Chloe Stanberry-Rosseter 2006 (New Jersey)
Dad
by Chloe Stanberry-Rosseter
Left high and dry.
Why did you have to die?
You cut ties
Left me full of sighs
Wondering why Mom had to lie.
To protect?
Was I supposed to forget?
Mom’s riddled with regret
I project these emotions
Ejecting hate as defense
Defense of what?
Of the sadness I felt
Weighing me down like a belt
No one knew how I felt
Help.
Why did you have to die?
