The failed case

The ground beneath my feet began to shake
As the verdict was read aloud
Tears welled up in my eyes, I couldn't take
The words that I so feared to be found

I had bared my soul to the court
Told my story, every pain and hurt
But the jury wouldn't see my worth
My heart was shattered, left in the dirt

I lost a case that I should have won
Justice denied, my spirit undone
I couldn't believe what had just been done
The world just got darker, no sign of sun

I felt so alone, so lost and weary
That justice had not been served was eerie
I questioned the system, questioned my fate
But I won't back down, I won't hesitate

Justice will come, one day or another
My voice will rise, louder and stronger
I'll keep fighting, I'll not surrender
For what's right, what's just - I'll remember.
