Lighthouse

Joe Strickland 1986 (Hobbysville, SC)

Silent sentinel of the sea,
the lighthouse on Hunting Island
stands tall and strong,
a beacon that guides ships home.

Its light pierces through the darkness,
casting a glow that soothes the soul,
giving hope to weary travelers,
and a sense of safety to those at sea.

Surrounded by the ocean's might,
and standing against the winds of time,
the lighthouse has weathered many storms,
yet remains steadfast and fiercely proud.

From atop its tower, one can witness
the majesty of the sea and sky,
a masterful display of nature's beauty,
that leaves one humbled and amazed.

To the lighthouse on Hunting Island,
you are a symbol of hope and strength,
inspiring us to keep striving,
even when life's stormy seas assail.

So we salute you, dear lighthouse,
and all who've served with you,
for you remind us of the power of light,
and the courage that it imbues.
