I FOUND HEAVEN WITHIN MY WORDS

mad hippie poet 1974 (new jersey)

I find my heaven inside these words that I use to hide behind the exact words that speak of the hell that lies stagnant in my heart and mind. My peace came at a hefty cost of love found and love that was lost. My stomach with butterflies is turning, and now like the California wildfires, my soul is burning.

I came a long way with these words that I say as a poet, a storyteller like the stars, a midnight dweller, or just a drunk with a notebook and a pen in a speakeasy cellar.

These words are my escape into salvation that I never thought I could know. These sentences are becoming something like my voodoo, and this ink piercing the lines like a fresh tattoo are my needles starting to work their magic to speak my mind. This is my heaven. This is my time to keep making you wet as I continue to drop like an orgasm in my lines.

My words are my hiding place, my secret garden, and there is no kill switch, for this is all the medicine that I need to feed all of those things that I was always taught not to believe, and that was in myself. Sorry all, I will never put this book back up on a cobwebbed-covered shelf, for it is mine and no one else’s

How wonderful to have such a sharp, provocative tool for knowing yourself, for expressing your needs, for making a commitment to your desires.
