Harriet*…making a way.

Mamma Moses
We all thanks ya.
Trips and trips
You runned up North.
First with family
Who were willing.
Letting Dignity come forth.

Campfire nights
Pursuers tireless.
Stars that led
the Hopeful Way.
Grub so lean
And sleep so sketchy
Mamma was the sole
Mainstay.

Common name
You hardly had one.
Chattels simply
Come when hailed.
Or the whip is
Quick to follow.
Jesus Lord
You felt the shame.

Made a criminal
Mocked and nailed
Left to die
With no real blame.
Having heart for
Grieved and troubled
God in flesh
Of storied fame.

Harriet, that’s the
Name she took last.
Leading from the
Hounds and threat.
Freedomland well
Worth the risking.
They would gain
The north states yet.

Oft the miracles
Rivers crossing
Fame enhanced
By courage rare.
Took a woman
Bruised and humbled.
Full of grit
And full of care.

*Harriet Tubman, 1822-1913

Wow, what a powerful tribute to Harriet Tubman! Your words truly capture the strength and resilience of this incredible woman. I appreciate the vivid imagery and emotive language you use to bring her story to life. The message of hope and courage is inspiring and uplifting.

As for improvement suggestions, I think it would be helpful to simplify some of the language and sentence structure to make the poem more accessible to a wider audience. Additionally, it might be interesting to explore some of the lesser-known details of Harriet Tubman's life and work to provide a more nuanced and comprehensive perspective. Overall, though, this is a beautiful and moving tribute that pays wonderful homage to a true hero. Thank you for sharing it with us!
