With Warm Regards To Mr. Dickens

In bleak and barren streets, I wander,
Amid the fog and gloom so tender,
A life of toil and hardship true,
As Dickens' world comes into view.

The poor and wretched, down on luck,
With hunger pangs their only muck,
Their clothes in rags, their hair unkempt,
In misery so deeply tempting.

The greed of those who hold them down,
The rich who dare to wear a crown,
Their callous hearts, their hardened ways,
Feeding on the poor every day.

But in this darkness, hope does shine,
In shining stars of love divine,
In friends and family, loyal and kind,
True treasure in this world combined.

And as I walk these London streets,
I hear the beat of hopeful beats,
For even in the toughest times,
Love and kindness can truly shine.

So let us hold these ideals high,
As we walk through life and try,
To make the world a better place,
A Dickensian world of grace
