Life is Boss

Peace, my mind knows peace

When life shouts in no uncertain term, “she is Boss” ….mnh
Brags and brandishes her crimson-stained fingers,
An angry wave slaps me in the face like a lone rock at sea.
My mind knows peace!

When she  viciously beats the drum of war,
Sends a message of fear,
Tramples my defences,
with frustrations, failures as  allies
Wears me out with a torrent of delay after delay
My mind still knows peace!


When she blares noisily  like an 18-wheeler  on the highway
Screaming to leave her path or she takes me out
Threatens to run me over the cliff
‘Cause I’m perceived too slow to play catch up
Gores mindlessly at my
“Shield of faith”,
Fatally scarring my soul,
Leaving me numb with tingling pain…
Ha!! My mind still knows peace!


Even when, like a scorned lover,
she withdraws her affections of a regular paycheck
 Sanctions for daring to fight back and ask, “ why me?”.
A guerilla tactic for hitting  below the belt,
Strips the roof over my head,
Rids the pantry of food;
Leaves me out in the cold
With shattering teeth and a gnawing  stomach pain
My mind still knows peace.

My mind knows  after the assaults of life-threatening woes,
Like the tide, she eventually ebbs, and I can walk on the shores of life again
Beaten, scared but not out!
Alive to fight another wave!!
