Cariad

Look at me one last time before we fall apart.
Look at me one last time before our love depart.
Look at me from where you stand above on a pedestal I created.
Look at me from where you stand on a throne you once hated.
Look at me one more time before you break my heart.
Look at me one more time before you look for a new start.
Look at me with your tear filled eyes just like the time you confessed.
Look at me with your tear filled eyes just like the time we professed.
Look at me through the curtain of your lashes as if I am your last.
Look at me through the curtain of your lashes without drawing a contrast.
Look at me even when I am not looking just like you used to do.
Look at me even when I am not looking, so what if our love is now blue?
Look at me as though nothing could go wrong if you and I are ‘we’
Look at me as though nothing could turn you against my decree.
Look at me as though nothing could make you look away.
Look at me as though nothing could make you go astray.
Look at me like nothing has changed for the worst.
Look at me like I am someone you will never desert.
Look at me for I am looking at you like you are my world.
Look at me for I know I was once everything to your absurd.
Look at me for I am on the stake of ruins like you had said.
Look at me for you were and you are my salvation Cariad.

About this poem

Just when you thought nothing could go wrong, you were left wailing in the dirt as a punishment.
