Till the next defeat

Fear of exams was not a feeling new
But that did nothing as my anxiety grew.

Pens, markers & chairs are scattered around
The door creaks open making a scary sound.

My nerves jump when the sheet gets to me
I look at the door, I stare at it helplessly.

Still my bottom sticks to the godawful chair
My clammy hands grasp the sheet in despair.

I want to rip the question paper to shreds
What comes next is what my being dreads.

The two hours of hell are gone just like that
It feels like someone beat me up with a bat!

Never again! I promise myself to do this feat
A stupid way to fool oneself till the next defeat.

About this poem

Exams are like defeat after defeat and there is never a 'personal' success. covered in the façade of opportunities only to have you anxious for the next one and the next one and the next one and the saga never ends. This is a humorous way of putting my feelings regarding the 'exam anxiety' into words.
