STOP AND SMELL THE ROSES

mad hippie poet 1974 (new jersey)

All my heroes died during my childhood, and not all of them were good, and not all the villains were sinister. My first love was not a lover but the women who gave birth to this man that I was born to be. Not everything you hear is meant for you to see.

There was a time that all the signs that stood in my way would not stop me. The only reason was I did not know how to read, so for myself and I watched my ancestors bleed.

I made peace with my past. Some things are better left forgotten if you don't want to sit in a moment waiting for the next breath to go rotten. I made my peace. I am stopping to smell the roses because these records that I am keeping are not yours. They are mine. The scents that I sense are my heaven and hell
