For My Brandi

Lona L Drum 1945 (Nevada)

There are times, (so it seems),
That "words" say nothing, (of what I mean),
And all our tears (as with dreams),
Never touch the truth, (of shortly being).

But what I know, (I`ll share with you),
You`re not alone, (you`re point of view).
Oh "yesterday", (well if only....we say).
And "today", (I`m so different in many ways).
Come "tomorrow", (let's face it on the way).

These "tomorrows" will take from us, (or take us from),
The things we thought were ours.
They`ll take away, (and replace),
The work of all those hours.

And who we were....and who we are,
Will change from day to day.
And what we know.....and what we share,
Is "Nothing Gold Can Stay".

So give us these "tomorrows", (so many we will hold).
And let us have these changes,
(`till our souls become as gold!!!).

Lona L Drum

I grew up in a small town in northeast Pa. I spent much of my time playing with my siblings with nature all around us. I still live in the same area and so many of my poems are based on childhood memories and young love. more…
