Step Forward and Donate with Honor

Dennis Rustiw 1947 (New Prague, Minnesota)

Limestone etched monuments rise from the fertile grass.
In rows and diagonals in all directions.
The only movement small flags,
Waved by the breeze.
Occasional flowers,
Adorn the sacrifice.
In the distance more manicured grass,
waiting.
Waiting for the monuments.
Waiting for the flags.
Waiting for the occasional flowers.
Waiting, waiting for the ultimate sacrifice.
Step forward and donate with honor.
