Nigel (Sorrow’s Grasp)

I lost my brother by his own decision;
Alone with his pain, he’d lost his vision.
I lived in a cult that was founded upon lies,
And no sorrow is allowed when a loved one dies.
On that ominous day, I received that call,
Surrounded by people, my tears couldn’t fall.

Forbidden to cry, to feel or to weep,
I swallowed my grief in a well so deep.
I cried all alone in the dark of night,
With no one to share my sorrowful plight.
Down in my bones, the hurt lodged in my chest.
While somebody else laid my brother to rest.

Twenty years past while he lay in the ground,
Till at last beside his grave I was found.
No thinking of him, or the dam would burst,
Such was tragedy, with which I was cursed.
My memories were stolen by a wall I had built,
Yes, even the good cut my heart with more guilt.

People may judge the choices I made,
But they will never know the price that I paid.

I choose Nigel(Sorrows Grasp) because it spoke to me. Reading those words, I felt the sorrow the poet was feeling and I could identify with them.
