A New Dawn

The old book says its darkest before Dawn.
The early Dawn was bright,
clear, and of cleaver good cheer.
A bright star burst forth
and encompassed all.
Its luminous light blazed bright.
Dazzling all who were near.
The brilliant light was not right,
obscuring The Rising Dawn.
A storm hid within, powerful and blusterous.
Gale winds howled, breaking upon The Dawn
and her young rays.
Darkness crept ever black,
clouding The Dawn.
Darkest it was, gloom did not lack.
Wearied and weak,
The Dawn sank low.
Low but not set, breath she drew
and voice she found.
The Dawn would not be drowned.
Firm upon her ground,
her brilliance would not be bound.
A New Dawn the world has found!
