A Fading Happiness

Kacey Roman 1974 (USA)

Summer days are fading quickly
Leaving the warmth in the past
The future holds a dreary coldness
That threatens life with an overcast.

The trees slowly lose their greenery
And their beauty fades with the light
Is this an omen of things to come?
As Mother Nature yields without a fight.

What happened to that endless summer?
I believed that it would always be
And yet it was only an illusion
As elusive as a schoolgirl's fantasy.
