Saturday. Ours and Delightful

Free verse
April Fools Day, the first.
Yeah, that’s a good one.
Coincidently the Elmira Maple Syrup
Festival.
Happens in large measure.


Will miss that one.
Happily the skies have cleared.
Concession owners will all be thrilled.
They say Town population
More than doubles.
Great Regional drawing card.


We are in our living room
Large balcony shows
Beautiful Day birthing.
Relaxed easy thankful mood.
Music playing.
Got a bunch of cheapo used
Music CDs.


All venues…blues, pop tunes, show tunes.
Classical orchestra, piano.
Tony, Frank, Neil, Barbara
Kenny, Shania, Aretha.
But presently Andre Rieu
And his Strauss Orchestra.
Blue Danube. Bolero.


With sun outside getting
Stronger and happier.
April will include my birthday
And spring Robins.
Snows are gone.

    Thanks AIDA. I think you would love our Waterloo Region. They say it is Canada’s software Mecca. Much like Seattle. Blackberry headquarters and GOOGLE national centre of operations and development. Box yourself up. Get on a plane in freight. Come on over.

    I absolutely love your positive and enthusiastic outlook in this poem! Your description of the Elmira Maple Syrup Festival and the excitement it brings to the town is truly infectious. Your use of imagery to paint a picture of the gorgeous day on your balcony is truly masterful, and the music selection you’re listening to sounds like an amazing compilation of old and new favorites.

    The only improvement suggestion I have would be to perhaps add a bit more detail or descriptive language to some of your lines. For example, when you mention your birthday and the arrival of spring Robins, it would be great to have a more vivid image painted in the reader's mind.

    Overall, your poem is wonderful and it’s clear that your zest for life is contagious. Keep up the great work!
