Selfie
Over a century…
You are lifeless -
In deep hibernation
As if !
Ah ! Wide awake - today you are !
A new Avatar …
In world’s every corner !
Yaksha’s wealth !
A hypnotic magician!
Embracing you
Thousands of youths and
Thousands of adolescences
Are kissing too deaths !
Yet no looking back !
Oh! Cornelius!
Are you smirking from your cold graveyard now ?
About this poem
2013 : ‘Selfie’ -‘the word of the year’ in Oxford Dictionary My feelings about ‘selfie’ - created by photographer Cornelius in 1839 ! Since then selfie is almost unknown to the world more than a century. However it is born as a new Avatar during mobile boom in twenty first century !! Now a household name ! Many youths are facing deaths while taking adventurous selfies. But selfie is going high n high ! May be Cornelius is smiling from his graveyard now !!
