The Crocus and the Bee

As i open my eyes to the new spring sun,
And taste the morning dew,
I long for my friends,
I'd not seen since last year,
To bring me greetings anew,

Across dales and fell,
Through bracken and bramble,
The travels of my friends are long,
Around many corners, are many a peril
Many a bird with song.

The day passes slowly,
The sun arches higher,
A delicate breezes ruffles by,
I can hear the lamb bleating,
This season is fleeting,
As time trickles slowly by.

Off it the distance,
Natures orchestra sings,
Cascading down the beck,
Flowing from hilltop, to tarn, to lake,
Slowly to the sea to rest,

As time passes on,
A familiar humming,
Travels across the wind,
I turn to see my dear friend,
With a smile on their face,
We embrace and catch up as he sings.

He regales of the winter,
The cold and the storms,
The work that is still to do,
The comings and goings of of all manner of creature,
From hedgehog to mousse to shrew,

But our greetings are short,
And soon he departs,
As the sun sets in fiery display,
With one final hum,
We bid farewell,
A perfect end to a perfect day,

As I lay in my bed,
With the memories of the day,
I feel grateful for my friends,
And for the beauty of nature,
For they both bring me joy,
And make every moment feel bright and gay.
