Our Days Are Numbered

The back of the signed print said 17/101 so I wasn’t sure if I should be proud that I was way ahead or disappointed I was so far behind, and then it occurred to me both numbers were prime so I thought maybe the universe was trying to tell me I was special, but then I realized the universe doesn’t have a voice and I might just be a part of an elaborate dream where there is no beginning and no ending just what’s between the sheets, which is a pretty fun card game you can play with your friends or with your enemies, not that you can ever tell for sure but most of the time you have a clue, which is another fun board game you can play if you want to pass time, which would mean you are faster than the speed of light, which would relatively blow Einstein’s mind if he wandered through your dream, or if you are really lucky you are living in Bob Dylan’s 115th Dream and you get to meet Columbus, who thought he was first but it really depends on who does the counting, and just like a calendar shows us our days are numbered and it doesn’t matter where we start or where we finish, we just need to count every day and make every day count.

I love this poem, this freestyle string of vivid associations, this monkey mind that brings us around corners and under bridges and through profound insights and vivid images. Thank you for sharing. It helps me to appreciate the amazing workings of my own hardly tamed mind.

Wow, what an imaginative and playful piece of writing! Your use of word play and stream of consciousness style captures the whimsy and confusion of trying to make sense of our place in the universe. I especially loved the nod to Bob Dylan's '115th Dream' and the realization that our days are numbered, but we have the power to make them count.

If I had to offer any improvement suggestions, it might be to focus on the flow of the poem. While I appreciate the freeform style, it might benefit from some editing to make the transitions between thoughts more smooth. Overall, though, this was a delight to read and left me feeling inspired to make each day count. Keep up the great work!
