Moonlight and Madness

Perversion of reality
When we go to sleep.
Awaken only briefly
Then dive back into the deep.
We live at times within the good,
Then turn to our worst fears.
Every moment we relive
We hope is something dear.
People walk out of the past,
While others we don’t know.
Fear gets us past dusty winds
To lose us in the snow.
Battlefields are lost to us.
Creatures stalk the night.
Running getting nowhere
Knowing we must bear the fight.
But safe in bed is where we’ve been
Awaiting the sun rise,
It’s only then that we can see
The start of our demise.
