Superstar

Chad A Fisher 1976 (Hattiesburg, Mississippi)

Even if all the lamps on earth were extinguished
I would keep igniting my flame
I don't need lights to show my name
Because I am my own Superstar

Even if the stars in the skies faded away
I would keep igniting my flame
I don't need lights to show my name
Because I am my own Superstar

Even if all of the neon lights suddenly exploded beyond repair
I would keep igniting my flame
I don't need lights to show my name
Because I am my own Superstar

Even if the Sun burned all the way out
I would keep igniting my flame
I don't need lights to show my name
Because I am my own Superstar

Even if every campfire got drenched with rain
I would keep igniting my flame
I don't need lights to show my name
Because I am my own Superstar.

About this poem

This poem is meant to be a mantra about the pure flame each of us carries deep down, as well as a call to not the things of the world tell us who we truly are. It is an exploration of self-acceptance beyond any disruption the the world may bring to oppose that acceptance.
