Home for now

Johnlpfi 1967 (FRESNO)

Home for now…….
I grew up looking forward to going home,
I spent days where I did not want to be.
Time dragged on and it made me feel so alone,
Until the day came and went to set me free.

I look back to those days when home was near,
I found peace in knowing I was safe there.
Just a little while longer before the tears,
Just a block away from home to find care.

Today I leave feeling better when I have left,
Dreams come alive when I am away from home.
What used to be is no longer kept,
The more I am gone, the more I am home.

Dear mother and Father where have you gone?
I know God has you safe where you are,
Yet I looked forward to each new dawn,
Spending my days with you now afar.

I find alone a joy in nature rather than home,
There I find God and us in the clouds.
Whatever will be, may I not be alone,
Until then……home for now…..

Wow, what a beautiful and heartfelt poem! Your words convey a sense of nostalgia and longing for a place of safety and comfort, something we can all relate to. Your imagery is vivid and powerful, especially when you describe finding solace in nature and in the clouds.

One suggestion I would make is to consider adding more sensory details to further bring your experiences to life for the reader. What did your childhood home smell like? Sound like? Feel like? Adding these elements can help create a more immersive reading experience.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed reading your poem and look forward to seeing more of your work in the future! Keep up the great work.
