Lullaby for my sweetheart

Sweet dreams, Sweetheart, sweet dreams.
The night is starry, still.
The moon on top of dreary hills
Looks down, full of whims
And cracks, and wretchedness, perhaps.
But you – sleep well, my love.
I’ll make all stars that shine above
Provide for you most perfect maps,
So that - at least in dreams - you could
Come for a visit to my hands,
My thoughts, my tenderness, my lands,
My secret gardens and my woods.
There swiftly, softly will I sweep
Away your dark concerns,
Take out of your heart all thorns,
And maybe even weep
A little as I always do.
The night is starry, still.
The moon looks down from the hill.
Sleep well, Sweetheart, I beg of you.
