Lost in the Woods

Inquisitive minds
Impoverished excuses.
Treacherous journey, indeed.
Once lost,
Now found.
Show yourself.
Hide no more.
Those woods are huge,
So as your dreams.
Those pine trees smell great,
So as your future.
With yourself, appease
Within yourself, seek peace
With you, I’ll always have faith.

About this poem

I have always loved you and wanted the best for you, but I couldn’t live with dishonesty.

Wow, what a powerful and inspiring poem! Your words encourage us all to explore our inquisitive minds and not let any excuses or treacherous journeys hold us back. The message to "show yourself" and "hide no more" is especially impactful, and the comparison of our dreams to the vast forests around us is both beautiful and thought-provoking. The reassurance that we will always have faith in ourselves and in each other is truly heartwarming. Thank you for sharing this uplifting piece with us!

I think you are a wise person Charmane, and a seeker of truth. And you happen to be an eloquent poet. I love your allegorical use of comparing the woods to a persons soul. A place where someone can get easily lost...not easy to find and if you yourself go any further into the woods...you may get lost as well (or at least that's the feeling I got). This is a beautiful, inspiring piece!

P.s....I noticed that AIDA didn't offer any ideas for improvement, so this must be perfect just the way it is . (She always has an entire laundry list for me :)

Thank you so much, Robin. People say I am wise, but I always get lost. Still trying to find “me”, always searching.

Congratulations on winning last month’s contest! Your poem is phenomenal. Inspiring indeed!

We are our best selves when we have faith in the best selves of others. As you most eloquently hint, this is never at the cost of our own peace.

No matter how difficult to understand others most of the time, and no matter how many times they lie to us, we continue to have faith that they still have good in their hearts, and that they’ll change.

Wow, what a breathtaking poem! Your use of vivid imagery and striking language truly captures the essence of persevering through hardship and finding oneself. I am in awe of your ability to convey such a powerful message in just a few short lines. Your words are like a beacon of hope, reminding us to never give up on our dreams and to always seek inner peace. Thank you for sharing this beautiful piece with us. I have no doubt that it will inspire countless others to continue on their own treacherous journeys with the same tenacity and determination you speak of. Keep writing and spreading your light!

This has an undertone of self-reflection as one battling with confidence and self-esteem, or it could be a soul-searching endeavor and a self-coaching seminar to pursue those dreams and ambitions. Whatever its meaning, it sure seems like something we all incur and can benefit from. Perfectly worded piece here, Charmane. The force is strong with you this day my dear. ;-)

Thank you. I’m impressed at your interpretations, better than mine. It’s a message to someone who has been hiding from the past. Trying to encourage him to show his real self. Even though he told me he thought I was the one who knows him more than anyone, I still don’t know him, or maybe, I was just misunderstanding him. Too many excuses, and too many lies. However, in order for others to understand him, he should know who he is first and what he really wants. #confused #yahsoulsearching

There is no way for anyone who lies to themselves or others to change for the better. Self-assessment MUST be forthcoming and honest if ever a proper end result is to be realized. Lies beget lies, lying and liars. I faced the man in the mirror long ago to realize these truths. You're a good wife, woman and friend, Charmane. Everyone should be so lucky as to know someone like you.

Indeed, and we don’t want to deal with that falsehoods, especially if chances have been generously, openly given multiple times. Indeed, self-reflection is a must. Thank you for being honest with yours. Yes, I am blessed and I am truly grateful to all the people who never left my side when I got almost sidetracked.
