Because I care

Heather Lydia Thornhill 1981 (Manchester)

It's as simple as a short hug
Threadbare attachment
Leaves us both mugs
Yet enough patience
For love's old resonance
In silt laid body
Long lost love's innocence
Yet never parted too long
Sheltered in our fears
Still hanging onto heart-shaped thongs
I remember the first tears
Drying into slate
Falling off the roof
Of our Pandora's box
Of affection's proof
Glistening gifts reflecting
Passions of early kisses
You're engraved in my bones
Too deeply to sustain our wishes
Expected ill will
The tattoo of your eyes caring gaze
Puzzles us still
I fall in love with your smiling praise
Waiting until
You disappear with another
Like fate's horror story
An end to these lovers
