Kinfolk

We are quick to anger,
& even quicker to forgive
because we need each other.
There is no one else,
no other soul who can
understand.

The resilience.
The perseverance.
The hurt.

That's our truth.
And it isn't.

We come in every shade
of poor, of lesser than,
of wanting, of needing.
We breathe in strife
& exhale strength
to overcome.

The doubt.
The unforeseen.
The fear.

That's our struggle.
And yours.

We are the same
despite & because of
our perceived differences.
We are the backs upon
which this existence is
built & thriving.

We are extraordinary.

Rachel this is excellent. Varying degrees of affirmation, courtesy, acceptance. But dammit sometimes you just gotta grit your teeth. Say nothing. Wait. Apostle Paul said, Honour all men. Love the Brotherhood. That would be an honest ethic.
