I’m sorry i couldn’t change you”

I’m sorry I couldn’t change you,
We met the 21st of August
You weren’t even amazed
You just disappeared like glue
Better yet, you were very much unphased

A few years later you're still not there, I see
Nowhere to be found no bond created
No biological father there for me,
But yet again i’m sorry I couldn’t
Change you when I tried to tell
You how I felt I was ignored

My feelings don’t seem to matter to
You, multiple kids later and I’m not
Much to you but yet again
I’m sorry I couldn’t change you not even
A little bit, I have everything I need to begin.

I’m not even mad that you're not
There because all I need is my mom
I’m blessed and have more than everything,
All the places you said you’d take me

You didn’t take me; you’ve never done
Anything for me, you were gone 5 years
When you came home it felt like
You weren’t even there like you were still gone
But then again i’m sorry I couldn’t change you
I just changed my way of thinking about you.

In grade nine. A 15 year old. Keep writing Sister. And reading many poems, many styles. Take a look here at references to Waterloo poet Rienzi Crusz. He gave me advice. It helped and liberated.

Story full of weeping and anger. Don’t carry it any more. If possible. It becomes a storm anchor, chained to one’s back. Pulling back. Change your Dad’s disposition? Not your job; never was.
