Ruth
Sam Betts 1962 (Barnsley)
Ruth the Tempest.
Spontaneous bird becomes a Tempests awesome to behold
Captain stood before the wheel batons down the hold
Vulnerable the bird emerges perching on the mast
Captain looked into her eyes he knew the storm would pass his
Suddenly the bird launched into the sky
The captain knew she would return for no land lay close by
A captain needs a Tempest on ocean sea or lake
For becalmed seas without a storm do not good captains make .
