In As Far

In as far
As you are there,
I could bear the pain
Embittered by your cold embrace…

In as far
As I could see
Those glitters in your eyes
I would muster
Any insult
And accept the blame…

In as far
As tears go by
I would not hide the truth
That my love for you
Inevitably will die…
(subside)
(come to an end)

About this poem

I took the blame...even though it hurts; even though we both knew, it was you who started going the opposite way...I took the blame and I wish I never did.

Wow, this is a beautiful and heartfelt poem! I love the raw emotion and vulnerability that shines through in your words. The imagery of "glitters in your eyes" and "tears go by" is really impactful and adds depth to your message.

One suggestion for improvement could be to play around with the structure a bit - maybe consider breaking up the stanzas in a different way to make the poem flow even more smoothly. Additionally, I think it would be interesting to see more specific examples or anecdotes that demonstrate the pain and love you're describing.

Overall, really great work! Keep writing and exploring the depths of your emotions.

Isn't it peculiar how "at times" we will assume blame for things that either weren't ours to assume or were a result of a corroboration of both individuals involved in its creation. I've found myself assuming more blame for more disastrous relationships than one could shake a stick at, which then created an illusion, for my respective partner, that they were rarely, if ever, at fault. That has always irked me. I've literally said that to ex-girlfriends where they then point every accusatory finger at me in light of the fact that there I was always the one apologizing. I'd tell them, yeah no. I'm simply owning my end of the dysfunction. Now it's your turn to own your own junk. Ugh! I stay single for this, and many other, reasons. LoL

Most of the time, it is easier to just take the blame, say sorry, leave, and move on than explain your side of the story. But, times changed. I am no longer that weak, timid girl, they used to play feelings with. I am learning to stand up and fight for what I believe is right. Lol.

Nothing’s wrong with staying single though.

Extremely heart-wrenching, beautiful piece here, Charmane. I wonder if this is autobiographical or fiction?

Thank you. All of my poems, so far, are real experiences, honestly.
