Demiurg und Tageslicht

And it was as if everything that ever was took on the infinite black mist as its mask
For several billion miles: the only light was the blood that I shed
Upon these wastelands I wandered from 0 to eternity
All for the sake of a woman long dead.

When I awoke I realized that this reality was my own skin, like pale remembrance
Every lumen replayed itself in totality: washing the infinite blackness
I will never forgive you--my Demiurge
I will never forget you--my long lost mirror

And it was as if everything that ever was is myself upon my rebuilt mask
For every atom of me: I was what I was not
Upon the cities of the dead the old world ashes were spread
All for the sake of an identity not my own.

About this poem

One of the three poems I wrote in 2022 about an undead man witnessing the totality of all that lives and dies. This one is rather short and deals with a sudden revelation, yet an inability to process it.
