Change

Acacia Hittle 2008 (Lake county)

I tried to change for him, just as the season did. But changing for him seemed to be insufficient.

Wishing, waiting for him to feel how I felt for him. Something more then just a friend with benefits. Change

Everything changed, but the way we were stayed the same. The one thing that I wanted to be different wasn’t.

The frigid winter air getting warmer as summer gets nearer. My feelings only growing deeper for him no matter how hard I tried to ignore them, or pretend I was over him. Change.

Why does the one thing that I want to be different have to stay the same?

Feeling betrayed, used, and taken advantage of not knowing how to tell him to stop, because I knew we had to.

He made life so much more livable being around him. The way the room would light up when he looked at me. I hope that’s something that would never Change.

Looking into his eyes I saw he was starting to feel everything I was feeling but he couldn’t let it show because he felt that way for someone else first.

Maybe he’d change for me one day, and give me the love that I’d yearned for for so long. I hope he Changes.

About this poem

Its a love poem about how someone isn’t able to be with another person because they like someone else.
