A man in search for love

I have arrived to you crestfallen

I have nothing to offer

But my bare hands

Sorry mister, for who are you may I ask

I am a but a simple man who saw you from afar

A couple of weeks ago your hair golden, like cinnamon buns

As I watched you from the bar

I hope I am no burden too you

I have travelled many lands

And finally found you again

I am not a man of gold nor riches

I bring but a smile and warm embrace

I am a man looking for love

Been searching to long

Now I bear a knackered face

She whispered

You are man of great zeal

You must be dead on your feet

Come in for a nice meal

Take time to recuperate

It’s bitterly cold, you just have a chill

The man smiled

You can stay the night, just one though

The man smile turned into a frown

Aren’t I your king my queen

Or is it because I don’t bear a crown

But this old, worn newsboy cap

Or because I don’t wear gold

But a rusty, tattered pocket watch

A single finger rested on his lips

Shhh, say no more, for it is neither

For I have a husband, he will not long be gone

His face was woeful

I have been a burden, I must be gone

No you are but a man seeking a woman’s love

Which led you here to me

However, you must seek further

For I am not her

The man left suddenly

Disappeared into the moonlit forest

She never saw him again

Although years gone by, she wondered

If he will ever come back
