Cellphone Folly

He bawls me out
That I am not
Responsive on my phone.
Many days spent, no charge.
Many days left on bureau.
Who’s gonna call, anyway?
Few face to face friends.
Family.
Facebook seldom counts.
Product solicitors, always
At suppertime.
Pranksters with some
Threatening allegation, bunk.
The Mounties are after me
Or some such.

But he almost has a
Surgical attachment of
His cell.
Bay Street broker of years.
Brilliant intuitions.
Many successes.
Higher up patron of TIFF events.
Hundreds of gobblers
Needing him, needing him
Feeding off him.
Friends?
And he runs off
To walk his dog.
Chat with Wife. Happily.
Listen to Frank Sinatra.
Fill the winter’s bird feeder.
Dreaming of summer hideout
At the Bay. Georgian. And blue.
