Fear of immortal death

In my heart lies a fear unfathomable,
Of death, an end that seems impossible,
For I, a being of immortality,
Am haunted by my own mortality.

I've wandered this earth for centuries on end,
A witness to history and man's great blend,
But still, the fear of death lingers within,
As I wonder what comes after life's spin.

Will I too succumb to the great unknown?
Will I be left to wander all alone?
These questions echo in my endless mind,
As I seek answers I may never find.

The thought of fading into endless night,
Of leaving all behind, of losing sight,
It shakes me to my very ancient core,
For I've known life and all its wondrous lore.

So I seek solace in the stars above,
And pray to gods, in whom I place much love,
That they may guide me through life's great finale,
And ease this mortal fear that now assails me.

For even if I am immortal born,
The fear of death remains an endless thorn,
And only with the help of powers divine,
May I find the peace that I seek to find.
