Are you seeing this Lord? Getting this?

OK Father
Trying to pay attention here
Put the dog outside
Barb is out with girlfriends
For a while for coffee.
And I need to talk
We need to talk.
There are anger issues
Arising at my work
Among other places.
Get four things done
And somebody starts
Complaining about the fifth
Thing on the list.
I deserve better.
I have a lot of seniority
Management by dissatisfaction
That’s their new style.
And it’s a joke.
Many are commenting...bitching.
I know I am called to do better.
But couldn’t you step in.
Vindicate in some small way.
They just think the
The Christian guy here
Can be trodden upon
With impunity.
It’s not all task related.
Much is underlying...and spiritual.
I have said enough.
Lord? Hello?
As I sit and quietly wait
Starting to feel foolish
Naysaying
Self-pitying
Less than I might be through Grace...
Then comes His whisper

Son I have observed it all
My Spirit is attending you
Even now.
Your words just uttered
And the awkward silence
Contain my answer
For the time being.
Shalom.
Whydontchya read again
David’s Psalm 37.
And the ones around you
Have been watching.
I intend for that to bear fruit.

NOTE:  Somewhere a sermon has been preached that "only what's done for Christ will last.” That Romans 8 proclaims things done in the flesh cannot please God."Folks hear such and cannot discern the meaning. I am reminded of Jesus' parable about the wheat and the tares (weeds). Both were allowed to grow full term without visible distinction, and only at the harvest would their destiny of favour or flames be determined.

So back to the distinction. Believers will never allow the demeaning of His name or message; will never stand idly by in the face of oppression or struggle of one of His little ones; will forgive; will pray fervently; will think the best possible report on a set of circumstances; will "salt" their speech; will resist the lust to retaliate or self-vindicate; will name His name unashamedly in public; will affim that He is God as well as man; will affirm that He is coming again in triumph. Now we're getting somewhere!

And all this will be done in the face of a world which is enslaved by political correctness and the advertised standard; which will pay lip-service to a God of some sort but not acknowledge the "Name above all names". That Name has been called a sword of division. There is a price to be paid for such audacity. It will be more than settled "by and by".

Jesus  looks on and smiles. He will not usually jump in with haste like some obedient retriever dog or delivery boy. He is sovereign. Other larger agendas sometimes have to be worked through.

ADDENDUM

I can only bless the serving
Who will flee all worldly fame
And delight me in small love tasks
Rendered solely in my Name.
As he dons the towel of service
Washing feet of worldly grime
He will know the heart of Jesus.
He will know the joy sublime.

About this poem

I see that this poem is the 171st on my list with poetry.com. Now that number, 171, was the house number on the place where I was raised. In London, Ontario. With parents Jack and Bev and Brother Scott. Good place for me to stop making entries for a while. Have enjoyed the ride. Will continue to pass on comments. Feast upon the offerings…Doug Blair…http://histocall.blogspot.com/
