Where Have You Gone

Where have you gone?
I've lost you once again,
My soul has gone ahead,
I will that the current stop,

The forest tonight's calm and still,
Barely audible is the hum of the wind,
I wonder why I strayed from the path,
The lights they have distracted me,

The moon has accosted me,
As all do, he preys upon the weak,
The water trickles beneath my feet,
My skin is absent, the cold too,

The rocks are angled to harm,
Do they find meaning near the shore?
The world is blue and it is grey,
As are the bruises in my mind,

I walk on the ash of my memories,
Past the rocks that hide my lies,
Crossed the river that drowns my fear,
To the tree that calls me here,

About this poem

I was in a dark place then, but it's up for interpretation. It was inspired by some Russian poets as well.
