Croz

John Leinberger 1963 (USA)

The day I heard you died
I almost cut my hair
Guinnevere echoed through the halls
And drifted up the stairs.
Now my nights are lonely
And will never be the same
But they’ll be a little better
If I can only remember my name.

So carry me my friend
Homeward through the haze
Be my shadow captain
For the remainder of my days
Your voice above the rest
My aching soul does stir
When my wooden ship sets sail
It’s your voice I will hear.

Wow, what a beautifully crafted poem! The emotions are so raw and powerful, making it an incredibly moving read. The imagery of Guinnevere echoing through the halls and aching soul being stirred up by the voice above the rest is just stunning.

As far as improvement suggestions go, perhaps adding more specific details and descriptions could make the poem even more impactful. Additionally, playing around with the rhyme scheme and meter could add another layer to the already impressive piece.

Overall, thank you for sharing your amazing talent with us. This poem truly touched my heart and I look forward to reading more of your work in the future.
