That pause of importance.

Doug Blair 1951 (London)

My, how you have unloaded!
A bundle of troubles that
Gobble up your Day,
your waking thoughts.
Can’t imagine your dreams.
And then you pause
Look to the Ground.
Shuffle your one foot
In the gravel.
I pause as well.
What is to be said next?
If anything.
I am here and listening
And that is always good for starters.
Should I bear witness to
My own sagas of grief?
Would that just come off as
Minimizing yours, competing with them?
Or should I say, Chin up
The sun always comes through?
How trite is that?
Somewhat ignoring the Great Pains here.
No, I will just say, this is really terrible.
It hurts me to listen
And to have no ready answers, helps.
But let us keep open minds, open hearts
Together.
God who loves, is now very close.
And I am not going away.
Not at all, dear Friend.
And He moves in unusual ways
To bring comfort, rescue.
Just as His Son always does, did.
And the Spirit is in this place
Right now.
Attending to each of us.

(Would be a good time to examine Psalm 145.)
