Darkest of Nights

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

Now you can come early or you can come late,
It doesn’t really matter you won’t have to wait.
He’s standing beside you to open the door
And help you come in your election is sure.

But not for the wicked, their fate is sealed;
Their hearts ever smoking will never be healed!

They stumble around in the darkest of nights,
Eternally tormented for refusing the light.
Alone now and desperate, they’re willing to fight,
But they’re still doing wrong never knowing what’s right.

They can look into heaven and see those rewarded,
But theirs is like the birth of a child aborted!
