Yesterday

Heather Lydia Thornhill 1981 (Manchester)

Yesterday was perfect
For you had stayed a while
You didn't complain about my cooking
And you've always been good looking
You played with your child so sweetly
Appreciated his wandering feet
Though you played too long you tidied up so neatly
Then we ate  pizza so fresh
I'm sure it had been blessed
And his sleepy head so awake with love, joy and extacy
Yesterday, yesterday
Oh I'd live it over again
For as I slept early and you played late
The softest voice sung to me
Il ma-re cal-mo de-lla se-ra...
And twas slower than any voice or breeze and gentler than the brush of new trees
And grander than any hope
It was only a God who could have spoke
and engulfed my fears as yours haunted me a little when you said
I don't need hugs or kisses anymore
But Yesterday I'd live again for sure
I wonder if you've heard it before
