Shooting star

Nearly half a hundred now
With a shooting star
I celebrated
I'll never see it again
Never with these eyes
The night is too dark
And the air too chill
But the shooting star stays warm
In the walls of my hardened skull
White as air in the burning sun
If I could choose a good day
It would be this one
For today I saw a shooting star
Today, today in my mind again
But I will never see it with these eyes
Never again
I'm still grateful
Still glad for it stays
In my minds inner eye I wish upon a shooting star
I wish to see it in the sky
so far away from my eyes
No lie.
And I did not expect it or pray for it but I get it.
I get it now.
I saw it. Space.
All I ever needed to know.
Devine timing as I opened my curtains on a cold, dark lonely night.
It was perhaps just me and God sharing a shooting star with the giant telescopes and the computers recording yet again.
Recording like a memory.
I rewind back time and see it again.
I wonder if it is I that should give it a name.
I wonder. The wonder of the sky?
Wonderer of minds? Mine and Gods.
My shooting star... never killed anyone
But it breaks my heart that I'll never see it with these eyes.
Never again.
