My Four Boys

One boy, two boys, three boys, four,
as much as they love me, I love them all more.
As much as God hands me, is as much as I'll handle,
whatever the burden, whatever the scandal.
Whatever His reasons, whatever His plans,
is not mine to question, but leave in His hands.
He sees all that I do, He's seen all that I've done,
that's the reason He's blessed me with more than one son.
They're my life, they're my reason for breathing each breath,
my four little angels, I love them to death.
Forever I'll do what needs to be done,
for I understand the meaning of SON.
A blessing from God that makes up my core,
not one boy, not two boys, not three boys, but four.

About this poem

This was written after my wife left me back in 2012 and was the first time I was ever away from my children and wasn't able to tuck them in and kiss them goodnight. I missed them terribly. It hurt!
